Individuals diagnosed with a thyroid problem are obviously aware that this tiny gland plays a very big role in their overall well being and health. The fact is, your thyroid gland is accountable for the manufacture of two important hormones: triiodothyronine and thyroxin. These hormones are vital for general health, making it reasonable for people suffering with such problems to seek a natural therapy for their malfunctioning thyroid.

Aside from stimulating metabolism, the gland created-hormones also help keep the other organs functioning correctly, stabilize the temperature of the body, and boost the energy of the body, whilst ensuring normal development and growth.

In the creation of the thyroid hormone, iodine is essentially required, which in the end, means it is indispensible for metabolism. A condition known as hypothyroidism arises when the body does not manufacture adequate TH or thyroid hormone (which is usually known as the metabolic hormone of the body). The opposite of hypothyroidism is hyperthyroidism which is a condition in which the body produces too much TH hormone.

Fortunately, there is iodine in iodized salt, medications, nutritional supplements and in the foods we eat (ground beef, water, milk, and seaweed). Chinese herbal formulas such as bladder wrack also contain iodine. However, we need selenium to adequately utilize iodine. Consuming just two or three Brazil nuts each day can give us all the selenium we need; this element is also sold as a supplement. It appears that a natural treatment for thyroid problems does exist after all and we see that there are several options available!
